A one-week commitment guide

A week is a good size for a promise. It is short enough to picture and long enough to leave room for a bad day. Here is how to set one that you will actually keep.

Start with fewer things than you think

Pick the pillars you can look after this week, even if that is only one. Three pillars is the full commitment, but a week you keep at one pillar is worth more than a week you drop at three.

Make each target a number you are sure of

Each practice gets a weekly target, not a daily one. A walk four times, deep work three times, a call to a parent once. A target is a promise to yourself, so choose the version you could keep on a tired week.

Targets can be small. The app lets you log a smaller version of a session when you cannot manage the full one, so showing up still counts.

Count the people too

Relationships works differently from the other two pillars. You add the people you want to stay close to and how often, such as a parent every week. Checking in means you actually connected: a call, a visit, a proper message.

Record how it went, not only that you did it

Each check-in takes a few seconds: how it went, and optionally how long and a short note. Over time that shows you which practices go well and which keep slipping, which is more useful than a row of ticks.

Try it

  1. Choose your pillars for this week.
  2. Set a target for each practice that you could still hit on a bad week.
  3. Check in each time you do one, and log how it went.
  4. On Monday, see if you kept the week and let the next one adjust.
